Byron Knowlson, AIA — Founder and Principal Architect

Byron earned his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Architecture from Virginia Tech. Prior to founding Menlo Architecture, Byron designed for residential, commercial, and hospitality clients at multiple award-winning architecture firms in the Richmond area.

He started Menlo Architecture in 2020 with the aim to make thoughtful design more accessible. Traditionally, clients working with an architect often feel the process is intimidating or confusing. Byron wants to change that experience into a transparent, collaborative one and help more clients achieve their vision.

Byron resides in Richmond, Virginia with his wife and two young daughters. When work and family demands allow, he enjoys a round of golf and hands-on home improvement projects.
